Visual mapping pipeline: from data to visual abstractions and user interaction. The raw data represented in the leftmost block (source data) are transformed into tables that can be visualized with distinct paradigms, referred to here as visual abstraction. The process of view transformation is responsible for deciding the final format of the graphical display to the end user. The bar at the bottom was included to illustrate that the whole process can be interactive, with the user choosing the methods to transform data, visualize the mapping and even modify the views.
