  1. Measurements were performed with colloidal probe cantilevers as previously described, and force-deformation curves were fit using the JKR model [11, 44]. All samples were made in 50 mm bacterial grade polystyrene dishes as previously described [34, 37]. At least 14 different force-deformation measurements were taken for each sample, and the mean values and standard deviations are reported.
