Frequency of leader cell occurrence for cell collectives with different geometry. Circular collectives (A, N = 107), collectives with hemispherical protrusions of medium local curvature (B, N = 95) and collectives with spike protrusions of high local curvature (C, N = 143). No significance could be found in circular case (A). Values between 36° and 52° in (B) and (C) are significantly (P < 0.0001) increased compared to all other values. In addition, the value of the center peak at 45° in (C) is again significantly (P < 0.0001) larger compared to its directly neighboring values. Grey overlays represent the geometries of the collectives.
